TUXEDO BIG BAND

TUXEDO BIG BAND - english version

I created the Tuxedo big band in 1992 like one would realize a childhood dream: play the music of the great groups from the "Swing Era": Jimmy Lunceford, Count Basie, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson. We realized very quickly that we were not the only ones who liked this toy! Our CDs won several prizes and the public was filled with enthusiasm at all of our performances by this music which is festive and extremely rich, and which was no longer played live.

Naturally, the Lindy Hop dancers emerged very quickly as our most fervent supporters and we were able to present shows with "The Happy Swingers" troupe, started by Véronique and Bruno David from 144 Dance Avenue. A big band in tuxedoes and Lindy dancers in epoch costumes! This evocation of the Cotton Club reminds us that Jazz and the Lindy Hop were born together and are ageless. And the public knows.

This record is of course made to dance to, but also to listen to music from the epoch played by French musicians from the end of the twentieth century, which shows once more that Jazz is definitely universal.
